I am very excited to have my book of photographs “Come As You Are” really ready for purchase. The original upload had a few glitches buts it’s available now as a hard or softcover.
I am excited that my photo book “Come As You Are ” is close to a re upload on Blurb.com with revisions, corrections and acknowledgements and will be ready for purchase soon. Making a POD book did require spending a tremendous amount of time in a one on one relationship with a machine. I guess it’s better than stumbling out of a darkroom smelling like fix, but it did mess with me…! Now may be a good time to do a little reading . “The Machine Stops” a short sci fi story written in 1909 by E.M. Forster is so light and cheerful. I think I’ll start there. Then I may take a walk. I am fully aware no one cares what I eat for lunch.
Hi Friends, I’m Diane B , a deadline junkie? Looks that way… I skated in under the wire to enter the Blurb.com photography book now contest. I wanted to make sure my photo book “Come As You Are,” would live in the Blurb.com photography book now bookstore for perusal and purchase. Thanks to designer Sally Platte Ford it was uploaded against a literal ticking clock on deadline day. Mistakes were made. The corrected version will be uploaded soon.
GOOD NEWS is one of my co-conspirators and a soaring talent himself, Johnny Leiberman bought the first book and is certain is will be worth THOOOOOWWWWZANDS with its’ glaring errors. Thanks Doc Leib, always look on the bright side!
I was at the Palm Springs Photo Connect 09 last March and spent some time looking through some really beautiful print on demand books at the Blurb suite at the Korakia Inn. I spoke briefly with some of the staff who pointed out their favorite books. Blurb’s Eileen Gittins did an impromptu review of a photographers portfolio, zeroing in very quickly on the best images. As I listened, something inside of me clicked. I approached Eileen and admired what she had done for photographers like myself.
“The books are beautiful,” I said.
“Make a book!” She replied.
Driving home from the inspiring and amazingly fun photography event , I had a headful of ideas about creating a book. That was the beginning of the adventure of putting together my own photo book: Come As You Are. As I learned, photo editing is not for the faint of heart. Some of the photos I had planned to include in my book didn’t make it. This is one that got away.
